Tony Maida commented on bright spots for providers in the new final rule for returning Medicare overpayments. For example, he said, the earlier proposed rule outlined a reporting method that was largely paper based, burdensome and not commonly used by providers. Mr. Maida, a former deputy chief at HHS’s Office of the Inspector General, advised CMS on the proposed and final rules.
