Historic Number of Medicare Fraud Arrests Could Signal More to Come

Tony Maida, a former senior enforcement official of the HHS Office of Inspector General, suggested that the Justice Department’s announcement of charges against 243 individuals across the country accused of Medicare fraud “was packaged together by the government to create a high level of media and public exposure, as well as for a deterrent effect.”
