Fracking Studies Put Energy Cos. On Firmer Ground

James Pardo commented on Energy Department and university studies concluding that hydraulic fracturing is not linked to groundwater contamination. “One [study] was looking top-down, while the other was looking bottom-up, but they ultimately ended up in the same place,” Mr. Pardo said, but he added that “studies like this put operators on notice that failure to adequately construct and operate a well can result in the release of methane and/or fracking fluids into groundwater aquifers.”
