Jennifer Geetter assessed the privacy implications of personal health information made available on Apple’s new wearable devices, noting that the general public may think HIPAA privacy protection “comes with them when they put personal health information on apps. By and large, it does not.” Ms. Geetter added that “given the popularity of the iPhone and its uncanny ability to know what we want before we know, anything Apple does now compounds and expands an existing question” regarding consumer-generated health information.
