Michael Morgan suggested that the introduction of sweeping data-privacy legislation at the federal level in the wake of the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica revelations is unlikely in 2018, given the focus on midterm elections. “There aren’t many signs coming out of this Congress that would suggest they want to focus a lot of attention on consumer privacy,” Mr. Morgan said.
