Lisa Linsky noted that the Supreme Court of the United States in Masterpiece Cakeshop Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission did not rule as broadly as some supporting the baker might have hoped. “They had hoped for what amounts to a license to discriminate on the basis of religious liberties,” she said, but Justice Kennedy “goes to great lengths to send the message that that is not the intention of the majority decision.”
