Welcoming Back Our Former Colleagues - McDermott Will & Emery

Welcoming Back Our Former Colleagues

When we see our colleagues off to other opportunities—whether retirement, time at home with their families or jobs elsewhere—we know it’s not goodbye.

The Alumni Community makes it our mission to help all members of our McDermott family, past and present, stay connected with the Firm and with one another. And sometimes, we are able to welcome those valued alumni back into our ranks of current colleagues.

After more than eight years in our Miami office, Amanda Jester (HTH-DAL) relocated to Austin, Texas, and a job at another firm. She rejoined us this June, now based in Austin and affiliated with our Dallas office.

“I knew for a while before it became official that I wanted to come back to the Firm,” she told us. “I missed my McDermott family, and I especially missed working with and learning from the best healthcare lawyers in the country.”

Across the country in Boston, Ben Goldberger (LIT-BST) agreed that reconnecting with people in the Firm was a big draw when he made the decision to return this July. He had spent three years with us before continuing his career with the district attorney and the government of Massachusetts.

Ben also cited the Firm’s commitment to helping government lawyers transition into the private sector as an important factor in his decision. “Unlike many other firms, we have a real understanding of some of the challenges and opportunities that presents,” he said. “I can offer unique insights and an intimate knowledge of how policy is made in Massachusetts.”

Our leadership at the Firm recognizes that our people, and the variety of skills and knowledge they contribute to our client work, lie at the heart of our success. We are thrilled to welcome Ben and Amanda back to the Firm, along with all of our alumni who decide to return to us after pursuing other opportunities!
