Ulrika Mattsson focuses her practice on trademark and copyright counseling, prosecution, licensing and enforcement. She provides trademark counseling and assists clients with the development and implementation of international brand management and enforcement programs for clients in a wide variety of industries, including medical devices, software, healthcare, consumer goods, food products, digital currency, insurance, hospitality/restaurant services, online services, entertainment and technology. She works closely with domestic and international clients from the beginning stages of product development and provides strategic advice in searching and filing for brand names domestically and internationally. She creates global filing strategies to maximize clients' protection of their valuable brands in a streamlined, cost-effective way, and manages the global registration, maintenance, enforcement, licensing and disposition of those rights.
Ulrika works on all aspects of the trademark registration process, including clearance of proposed trademarks, counsel clients on information and description of goods and services to be included in the trademark application and prosecutes applications through registration. She also works on various enforcement aspects of trademark portfolios such as opposition and cancellation proceedings, world-wide watch notices and custom and boarder protection. Ulrika has extensive experience in research, drafting and filing of documents with the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the US Copyright Office and in protecting intellectual property with US Customs and Border Protection, and representing clients in Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (“UDRP”) proceedings.
Ulrika also provides support on various intellectual property aspects related to corporate transactions and has drafted and negotiated intellectual property provisions in complex commercial transactions, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and license arrangements for public and privately held companies in various industries. She is also experienced in negotiating and drafting a variety of intellectual property-related agreements, including assignment, license, co-existence and settlement agreements.
While in law school, Ulrika was an intellectual property paralegal at McDermott, where she assisted in trademark and copyright prosecution matters.
