BOSTON — A survey of Fortune 1000 counsel ranked the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery as one of the very best overall for client service. The survey results, released on November 14, 2001 by the BTI Consulting Group, placed McDermott third out of 30 on its BTI Service 30 list. McDermott was ranked as "best of the best" in the categories of Proven Commitment to Help, Understanding of Client's Business and Handling Problems. The Firm was also cited as among the best for bringing together national resources, international capabilities and value for the dollar.
"The importance of our commitment to clients is reaffirmed by these survey results," commented Larry Gerber, McDermott’s Chairman. "We are grateful for the many wonderful client relationships we have and would like to thank our clients for this recognition."
The Survey of Client Performance was conducted independently by BTI and concentrated on client satisfaction, client relationships, law firm management strategies and needs. Examining responses from more than 175 Fortune 1000 corporate counsel, BTI ranked firms according to 20 key skills, activities, attributes and behaviors associated with client relationships. All survey questions were open-ended, focusing on clients’ views on individual law firm performance. The BTI Service 30 identified the "cream of the crop" based on each firm's overall performance.
In October 2001 two lawyers from McDermott Will & Emery, David Rogers and David Ryder, were recognized in BTI’s Client Service All-Star Team for Law Firms. Only four firms, including McDermott, Will & Emery, had more than one lawyer recognized on the Client Service All-Star Team.
