NEW YORK - McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Banks Brown will assume the role of the head of the New York Trial Department. Mr. Brown succeeds Robert Weiner, who has served as head of the New York Trial Department for nearly 10 years. Mr. Weiner will now fully concentrate on his growing international arbitration practice.
"Banks is well equipped to assume responsibility for our growing New York Trial Group," commented Robert Bouma, Head of the Firm's Trial Department. "Bob will continue to be an important contributor to the Department, and we thank him for his many years of service in providing leadership to the Trial Department both in New York and nationally."
Mr. Brown joined McDermott Will & Emery in 1994. His 25-year practice has concentrated on a broad range of complex commercial disputes, including securities class actions and multiparty arbitrations. He also serves as general counsel to three major trade associations which represent the hospitality industry.
Mr. Brown is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. He earned his bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Harvard University in 1974, and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1977.
