CHICAGO (October 2, 2006) — The Chicago office of McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the addition of six intellectual property lawyers, including five partners and one associate to its Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department. This group brings the Firm's Chicago intellectual property practice to nearly 30 lawyers. Partners Daniel Christus, Jeffrey Gargano, Matthew Gryzlo, Brent Hawkins and Peter Siavelis, and associate Brett Bachtell, have joined McDermott's Chicago intellectual property practice from the Chicago intellectual property boutique law firm of Wallenstein & Wagner.
"This team of lawyers is a great fit with our existing practice both professionally and personally, and will help further develop our existing full-service IP practice in Chicago," said Margaret Duncan, head of the Chicago intellectual property practice. "The group has an established tradition of client service, collegiality and team work which fits perfectly with our model."
The lawyers have excellent IP capabilities and experience. The team, which includes two chemical engineers, two mechanical engineers, one electrical engineer and one microbiologist will complement the skills and experience of our firm-wide intellectual property lawyers. The Firm's Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department already includes more than 130 lawyers with technical or scientific degrees, including more than half with a degree in electrical engineering, biotechnology, chemistry or other technical disciplines, such as computer engineering.
"McDermott gives us the opportunity to provide clients with an interdisciplinary approach to their business needs," commented Mr. Christus, one of the partners joining McDermott. "McDermott's platform, practice depth and geographic reach bring our service offering to a completely new level."
"We are very pleased to see this group join our office. They are terrific lawyers and will enhance and deepen our intellectual property practice in Chicago," commented George Heisler, partner-in-charge of the Chicago office.
