CHICAGO (March 22, 2010) — McDermott Will & Emery LLP today announced that L. Timothy Halleron has joined the Firm’s Chicago office as a partner in the Private Client Practice Group. Mr. Halleron, who concentrates his practice in trusts and estates planning, administration, and litigation, was formerly a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP.

Mr. Halleron represents high net worth individuals and families in planning for the preservation and transfer of wealth. He advises clients in the design and drafting of estate plans, wills, trusts, lifetime gifts and other estate planning strategies. Mr. Halleron has extensive experience with tax planning in connection with IPOs, including leveraged sales of interests in closely held businesses to dynasty trusts, charitable remainder trust planning and post-IPO formation and the funding of family foundations. His experience also includes the formation and administration of a variety of tax-exempt and charitable entities.
In addition, Mr. Halleron advises clients in connection with investment diversification, asset protection, and corporate and family governance issues, including reorganization of closely held businesses to improve the tax efficiency of those organizations. Mr. Halleron consults with fiduciaries in probate and trust administration in connection with litigation involving disputes between trustees and beneficiaries and in contested trust and tax matters.

Mr. Halleron received a B.A. in English from the College of the Holy Cross and a J.D., with distinction, from Hofstra University School of Law, where he was notes and comments editor of the Hofstra Law Review.
