WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 17, 2010) — McDermott Will & Emery Health Industry Advisory partner Guy Collier has been elected to the Board of Governors of the District of Columbia Bar. The Board is composed of 20 lawyers elected by the active membership and three members of the public appointed as nonvoting members by the Bar itself. Mr. Collier will take office during the D.C. Bar’s Annual Business Meeting and Awards Dinner on June 24 at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel. He joins Firm partner Ankur J. Goel as McDermott’s second current member of the Board. The D.C. Bar (www.dcbar.org) is the second largest unified bar association in the United States, with over 81,000 members, representing 8 percent of all attorneys in the United States.
Mr. Collier focuses his practice on transactional and related regulatory issues for health industry clients. He devotes a substantial portion of his practice to corporate compliance issues, including internal and governmental investigations and human subjects research compliance.
Mr. Collier previously served in the Office of General Counsel for the Department of Health and Human Services and at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences in Washington. He is a member of the Health Law Section of the D. C. Bar, having served on the Section’s first Steering Committee, as well as the Health Law Section of the Virginia State Bar.
Mr. Collier also Chairs McDermott’s Firm-wide Pro Bono and Community Service Committee. He is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Law Center in Washington and serves as a Director of the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs and Trustee of the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia. He is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
