ORANGE COUNTY (April 21, 2011) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced that it has named John D. Magluyan as a partner in its Intellectual Property Prosecution, Transactions and Strategy Practice, based in Orange County.
“With a proven track-record as a successful patent prosecutor, John brings tremendous experience to our already top-ranked Intellectual Property team,” said Mark Itri, partner and head of McDermott’s Intellectual Property Prosecution, Transactions & Strategy Practice Group. “John’s diverse background across various technology sectors such as computer software and internet technologies should make him a strong contributor to our practice group. Magluyan represents clients in various fields, including software, semiconductor devices, digital communications, image processing, internet technologies, materials technologies, aerospace and optics. His experience also includes foreign and domestic patent prosecution, rendering opinions concerning infringement and validity of patents, pre-litigation analysis and investor due diligence. In addition, John also has technical and practical engineering experience in the design, development and testing of computer software.

Magluyan is admitted to practice in California and is a registered patent attorney admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Whittier Law School where he received a Merit Scholarship and a B.S. in computer science from the University of California, Irvine.
