NEW YORK (November 28, 2011) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP is pleased to announce that 29 attorneys have become partners of the Firm effective January 1, 2012. This number is up over last year when 25 McDermott attorneys were made partners.
“We are delighted to welcome each of these very talented attorneys to the McDermott partnership,” said Peter J. Sacripanti, co-chair of McDermott Will & Emery, based in New York. “Through their hard work, good judgment and outstanding dedication to their clients, these lawyers have shown they have the leadership qualities necessary to help guide the Firm into the future.” Sacripanti noted that the new partners are drawn from 9 different practice groups in 11 cities around the world.
“This year we are pleased to note that almost half of our new partners are women, reflecting our deep commitment to creating a diverse network of leaders across this Firm,” added Jeffrey E. Stone, co-chair of McDermott Will & Emery, based in Chicago. “We commend all of these lawyers for their numerous achievements over the years, and believe we are a stronger Firm with them as partners.” Stone noted that, consistent with the Firm’s policies, all of the new partners had devoted considerable time to pro bono efforts and many of them have been recognized and honored as rising stars in the profession.
Starting in 2010, prior to advancing, all McDermott associates are required to demonstrate excellence with respect to a specific set of substantive, management, and leadership competencies aimed at ensuring superior client service. This is the second class of McDermott attorneys promoted to partner based upon their achievement of these competencies.
