WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 9, 2011) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP is pleased to announce that the D.C. Bar Foundation has selected partner Joshua D. Rogaczewski and associate Brian A. Benko as two of the nine inaugural members of the D.C. Bar Foundation's Young Lawyers Network. The D.C. Bar Foundation provides financial support for civil legal aid in the District of Columbia.
According to the Bar Foundation, the nine lawyers participating in the Young Lawyers Network will “serve as ambassadors to younger lawyers in the DC community in order to promote the Bar Foundation’s mission and programs and to help raise additional resources to support legal services programs.
Participation in the Young Lawyers Network offers an unparalleled opportunity to see first-hand the impact that the Bar Foundation makes in the delivery of legal services in the District.” It is expected that the Young Lawyers Network will grow to approximately 35 attorneys.
The Young Lawyers Network will serve in an advisory capacity to the Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors and its Committees and assist the Bar Foundation with program work, annual fundraising, and public awareness events.
“We are proud that two of our outstanding young lawyers were selected for this prestigious and important leadership position with the Bar Foundation,” said Paul M. Thompson, co-partner-in-charge of McDermott’s Washington, D.C. office. “McDermott lawyers have a long tradition of engaging in pro bono and public service activities. The Firm strongly encourages giving back to the community and recognizes the professional responsibility of its attorneys to help ensure that low-income and disadvantaged individuals have access to justice.”
Rogaczewski is a member of the Firm’s Trial Practice Group and has extensive civil litigation experience including class actions, insurance defense, internal investigations, and congressional and administrative investigations. He is a member of the Firm’s Professional Responsibility and Associate Development Committees.
Benko is a member of the Firm's Employee Benefits Practice Group. He focuses his practice on a variety of employee benefits tax and ERISA matters related to 401(k) plans, pension plans, health and welfare plans, employee stock purchase plans, and executive compensation arrangements. Benko serves on the Firm's Pro Bono and Community Service Committee.
