NEW YORK (MARCH 1, 2012) – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced that it has named distinguished transactions lawyer Alan D’Ambrosio as a partner in its Corporate Advisory Practice Group, based in the Firm’s New York office. He joins McDermott from another AmLaw 50 firm where he was previously a partner in their corporate group.
Mr. D’Ambrosio, who speaks four languages, has more than 30 years of experience representing clients and managing client relationships in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Much of his practice involves commercial transactions undertaken by Italian companies in the United States, elsewhere in Europe and in Asia. His practice focuses on international corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, energy transactions, and international arbitrations. He has acted as principal counsel to corporations, and negotiated and structured complex business transactions across multiple geographies. Additionally, Mr. D’Ambrosio has a long history of representing foreign governments, financial institutions, and central banks in international business transactions and information technology deals.
“We’re delighted to welcome Alan to the Firm,” said David Goldman, partner and head of McDermott’s Corporate Advisory Practice Group. “His experience advising Italian corporate entities on sophisticated international transactions is consistent with our goal of expanding McDermott’s cross-border capabilities within Europe and between the U.S. and Europe. Additionally, Alan’s practice is built on broad-based activities that will involve a number of practices including our Trial, International Arbitration, Tax and Intellectual Property practice groups. He will play a key role in our growing cross-border transactional practice.”
Mr. D’Ambrosio has handled mergers and acquisitions; major commercial and corporate matters; trade, project, and infrastructure finance; sovereign debt; complex intellectual property and information technology matters (including outsourcing matters); and multinational litigation and arbitration matters.
While based-in New York, Mr. D'Ambrosio will spend considerable time working from McDermott's offices in Milan and Rome on matters for Italian companies relating to cross-border transactions, commercial contracting, litigation, as well as arbitration and international tax. From Europe and the US, he will participate large-scale financial transactions on behalf of McDermott's growing client base.
Mr. D’Ambrosio held a number of senior leadership roles at prior law firms. He is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Chicago Law School. He has been recognized as a leading practitioner by Chambers USA and other national and international groups. He is admitted to practice before various District Courts and Federal Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
