SILICON VALLEY (August 7, 2012) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP played a leading role in achieving a complete trial victory for Firm client Brocade in the United States Court for the Northern District of California.
The McDermott litigation team, lead by Intellectual Property Litigation partner Fabio Marino, represented Brocade in the case against A10 Networks, Inc. (A10). After a 14-day trial, the jury awarded Brocade a complete victory, finding for the company on every count. The verdict was announced late in the day on Monday, August 6th.
Specifically, the jury award included over $111 million in damages for patent and copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation and intentional interference with contract, as well as $1 million in punitive damages against the company and its CEO Lee Chen.
The trial win was a joint effort as McDermott worked alongside Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP partner Annette Hurst and her team as well as Allen Ruby of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
