BOSTON (September 19, 2012) – Some 28 McDermott Health partners have been selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2013, published by Woodward White. This ranking reflects the collective judgment of lawyers across the U.S. who identified these McDermott partners as leaders in the area of health care law. Lawyers honored achieved a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism and integrity.
This year's results build on the Firm's strong performance last year when 23 McDermott health lawyers were selected as Best Lawyers. Additionally, four McDermott partners were recognized for the first time in this year's edition: Sandra M. DiVarco, Daniel H. Melvin, Trial partner Thomas A. Ryan, and Cathy Z. Scheineson.
McDermott’s Best Lawyers Health rankings further distinguish the Firm as the undisputed leading law firm in health care. McDermott is the only firm to receive Tier 1 rankings in health care nationally by all of the industry’s top legal directories: Chambers USA, The Legal 500 USA and U.S. News–Best Lawyers. For three consecutive years, Chambers USA ranked McDermott’s health practice as the only firm in Tier 1 in the United States (2010–2012), noting McDermott as a “highly respected firm that continues to be seen as the first choice across the nation in healthcare matters, and can offer preeminent expertise that draws on its broad litigious and counseling capabilities.” McDermott’s health practice also received Tier 1 recognition in California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.
“We are honored not only to be recognized by our clients and the top directory services, but also to be selected by our peers as counsel of choice in the area of health law,” said Stephen W. Bernstein, partner and head of McDermott’s Health Industry Advisory practice. “These recent accolades reflect McDermott’s solid health industry knowledge, commitment to providing our clients with top-notch service, and the value-added counsel that is so much in demand in this fast-changing industry.”
