Kocoras and Obiamaka Madubuko have been named as two of Ethisphere Institute’s 2012 “Attorneys Who Matter” in the “Up And Comers/Rising Stars” category for their work and commitment to advancing corporate ethics and compliance. This is the third consecutive year Mr. Kocoras has earned this distinction, and the second consecutive year for Ms. Madubuko.

Mr. Kocoras focuses his practice on internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense matters including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) cases and complex litigation. Prior to joining McDermott, he served for four years as Managing Director and Regional Counsel of the global investigations company Kroll, where he directly supervised investigators, forensic accountants and computer forensics professionals on FCPA matters and other international investigations. He also served for over five years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois, where he represented the United States in federal criminal matters throughout investigations, trials and appeals, including cases involving white collar crimes, public corruption, terrorism and other violent crimes.
Ms. Madubuko focuses her practice on anti-corruption and fraud matters, particularly in emerging markets like Sub-Saharan Africa and China. She is an experienced white-collar criminal defense litigator who also advises U.S. based companies doing business in international markets. Ms. Madubuko has led internal investigations and regularly assists her clients to perform anti-corruption risk assessments, to develop effective FCPA compliance programs and has delivered global training programs on the FCPA and other US and global trading laws and regulations. As an experienced trial lawyer, Ms. Madubuko regularly defends individuals and corporations in complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal cases in state and federal courts.
