November 21, 2013 - For the second consecutive year, McDermott Will & Emery ranked among the top US law firms at the prestigious Financial Times (FT) “Innovative Lawyers Awards 2013,” held in New York City on November 20th.
The “US Innovative Lawyers Report,” now in its fourth year, seeks to “recognize market leaders in the US legal industry by measuring and rewarding value delivered to clients.” The editors write that the special report “incorporates our unique rankings of law firms that have brought original thinking and practices to business issues in the US.”
McDermott was ranked among the top 40 US law firms. “To be included has meant more than doing something original and delivering a different order of service,” wrote FT. “It has also meant being able to inspire eulogies from clients. The FT 40 reflects those firms that have been able to do that consistently and effectively across their businesses.”
The Firm also ranked among the top 25 for innovative Corporate and Commercial work and commended for our antitrust work on behalf of Constellation Brands, the largest premium wine producer in the US. McDermott represented Constellation Brands during antitrust investigations, creating a framework with the Department of Justice to allow the use of computer-assisted review. Leading the team on this matter were antitrust partners Raymond Jacobsen, Warren Rosborough and Jon Dubrow, and trial partner Margaret (Peg) Warner.
FT received a record 355 submissions from 59 of the top US law firms in the Am Law 100 for this year’s “US Innovative Lawyers 2013” awards. FT and its research partner RSG Consulting use a bespoke methodology to rank lawyers on innovation.
