MIAMI (December 31, 2013) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP represented Securus Technologies, Inc. in its recent acquisition of Satellite Tracking of People (STOP), LLC. STOP, which is a top producer of offender monitoring services for the corrections and enforcement sectors.
This is the second Securus acquisition McDermott has counseled on in the past three months and the fifth transaction in the past two years. McDermott represented Securus in its acquisition of Archonix Systems, LLC, a provider of public safety software solutions, earlier this year. Additionally, among other things, McDermott represented Securus in connection with the acquisitions of Primonics, Inc., a web-based video visitation services provider for the corrections industry, and DirectHit Systems, Inc., a provider of sophisticated investigative, data analysis tools for law enforcement and corrections clients in North America.
“Securus is a market leader in the prison services industry,” said Harris Siskind, co-head of the McDermott’s Private Equity practice and lead lawyer on the deal. “We greatly appreciate the trust Securus places in our firm and proud that Securus continues to choose us as its deal-counsel as they pursue a targeted growth strategy.”

The company, which is headquartered in Dallas with regional offices in Atlanta, Melbourne, Fla. and Montreal, focuses on the specialized needs of the corrections and law enforcement communities.
“We are pleased to have worked with McDermott for many years and on many transactions,” said Rick Smith, CEO of Securus Technologies. “With their solution based focus and efficiency, our McDermott lawyers are integral partners in our deals."
