WASHINGTON, DC (June 1, 2016) - Intellectual property litigator, Bernard (Bernie) J. Knight, Jr., has been selected as a 2016 “Intellectual Property Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal. This year’s second annual “Intellectual Property Trailblazers” supplement, profiles fifty legal innovators who have changed the intellectual property landscape.
Mr. Knight served as the general counsel for the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) during the design and implementation of the landmark America Invents Act (AIA). During this time, Mr. Knight was the leading legal mind behind developing the procedures behind some of the AIA’s key provisions. Most notably, Mr. Knight was instrumental in the development and implementation of the new post-grant proceedings to determine the validity of patents at the USPTO – proceedings that have forever changed the strategies involved in patent litigation.
