Alexandra C. Scheibe focuses her practice on representing financial institutions in structuring and negotiating a broad range of derivatives and structured finance products. Alexandra has developed deep knowledge in the field of derivatives and regularly advises clients on a wide range of derivatives (including interest rate swaps, total return swaps, credit default swaps, caps and options, as well as guaranteed investment contracts, forward purchase agreements, repurchase agreements and other reinvestment products), structure notes and securitization transactions in the municipal and tax-exempt markets.
In addition to her transactional work, Alexandra has developed regulatory expertise and advises clients on derivatives regulation and strategy, including requirements of Dodd-Frank and rules promulgated thereunder related to swaps and security-based swaps business conduct standards, swap push-out rule, swap definitional rules, clearing, margin and end-user issues, and well as the development of regulatory compliant documentation. She focuses on regulatory strategy and compliance obligations of swap dealers and other financial institution market participants.
In recent years, Alexandra has also advised financial institutions and other market participants in connection distressed municipal debt offerings, and bankruptcy and restructuring issues in the municipal and tax-exempt markets.
Since joining McDermott in 2004, Alexandra has been an active leader in the Firm. She is currently a member of the Firm’s Technology Advisory Board and the Firm’s Associate Review Committee.
Alexandra is also a member of the Futures and Derivatives Regulation Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and a member of the Derivatives and Futures Law Committee of the American Bar Association.
