Kristian (Krist) Werling is co-chair of the Firm’s Life Sciences Practice. He represents biopharmaceutical manufacturers and health care service providers in a wide variety of transactional matters. He also represents private equity and venture capital investors in investments in the life sciences and health care industries. In this capacity, he works with cross-disciplinary teams to conduct legal due diligence and execute acquisitions, add-on acquisitions and divestitures, as well as provide ongoing legal services to portfolio companies. In the health care services arena, Krist has particular experience with transactions and joint ventures involving ambulatory surgical centers, specialty hospitals, dermatology, pain management and anesthesia physician practices and dental practice management companies.
Krist had several years of experience serving as in-house counsel to Hospira, Inc., a generic specialty pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturer that was sold to Pfizer. Krist is active in the legal and charitable community, where he serves on the board of directors of The Friendship Center, a food pantry serving approximately 500 families per month, and Swedish Covenant Hospital, an independent, nonprofit teaching hospital located on the northwest side of Chicago. Krist is also active with the Chicago chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) and formerly served as the chair of the Life Sciences Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association.
