As many businesses begin to incorporate aspects of social media into their daily marketing efforts and customer outreach programs, legal issues relating to the Right of Publicity are more important than ever. The exploitation and value of a person’s name, image and likeness—and not just those of celebrities—are topics that often go unaddressed, but which should be at the forefront when moving forward with new marketing campaigns, contests, public events, additions to website content, customer testimonials, etc.
We hope that you will join us for a program addressing Right of Publicity laws and their relationship to other areas of law and business, such as trademark and copyright law, internet and domain name concerns, and branding efforts. During the program we will discuss how to navigate Right of Publicity issues in the context of social media and emerging business practices, and we will examine some of the most recent cases and legal theories to identify how they impact business today.
