McDermott Will & Emery invites you to join us at our second annual Intellectual Property Symposium, a premier conference designed for in-house counsel and other intellectual property (IP) professionals. The Symposium will include interactive panel discussions covering a broad range of current IP issues, including litigation and prosecution topics of interest to in-house counsel, as well as networking opportunities. Symposium panels will feature in-house counsel from major corporations, lawyers from McDermott’s global IP practice and other IP thought leaders.
Michael Leiter, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and national security analyst for MSNBC and NBC News will provide the lunchtime keynote address. From June 2008 until July 2011, Michael Leiter served as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC)— first serving under the Bush administration and then under the Obama administration.
Chief Judge Paul R. Michel (Ret), will provide insight on what litigators can suggest to judges to make the journey through the trial court faster, less costly, less invasive and more predictable. He will share his insights on patent eligibility law and the dynamic between the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court. He will also advise on the future of parallel proceedings in the district court and the USPTO regarding validity, particularly the coming flood of IPR proceedings and the weakness in the estoppel provisions.
The Symposium will include panel discussions on:
- A Practical Guide to Inter Partes Review and First to File Implications
- Professional Responsibility
- Creative Enforcement of Trademarks & Copyrights
- Increasing Friction in the Antitrust/IP Interface
- IP Enforcement Strategies & Coordination in Europe
- Seeking IP Protection in Foreign Markets
The registration fee for this event is $375 per registrant*.
