McDermott Will & Emery invites you to join us at our inaugural Technology in the Law Symposium, a premier conference designed for in-house counsel and other e-discovery professionals. Co-sponsored by the E-discovery Committee of the D.C. Bar Litigation Section, the half-day afternoon event will include interactive panel discussions covering the explosion of electronic data in legal services, the use of computer-assisted review solutions in litigation, investigations, corporate due diligence projects and other legal matters. U.S. Magistrate Judge John M. Facciola will serve as keynote speaker. Panelists will include in-house counsel from major corporations, lawyers and technology professionals from McDermott Discovery, and other electronic discovery thought leaders.

Hon. John M. Facciola was appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge in the District of Columbia in 1997. Judge Facciola is a frequent lecturer and speaker on the topic of electronic discovery. He is on the board of directors of the Federal Judicial Center and is a member of the Sedona Conference® Advisory Board and the Georgetown Law’s Advanced eDiscovery Institute Advisory Board. He is also the former editor in chief of The Federal Courts Law Review, the electronic law journal of the Federal Magistrate Judges Association. |

The symposium will include panel discussions on:
- Recent case law on the use of predictive coding and evolving issues of proportionality, cooperation and reasonableness
- Predictive coding pessimists and promoters, where software developers and other predictive coding users raise and discuss the benefits and pitfalls of the technology
- The proposed historic changes to FRCP Rules 26(b)(1) and 37(e) and their likely impact on the use of predictive coding tools
- The use of predictive coding and analytics outside of the litigation context (in connection with information governance, corporate compliance, due diligence and beyond) as well as inside the corporate firewall
