Please join McDermott Will & Emery for a webcast on the increasing risk of litigation tied to alleged improper compensation paid to physicians by hospitals.
Our panelists will draw on their experiences as health care regulatory lawyers and litigators to discuss three recent major cases:
- Citizens Medical Center — $21.75 million settlement in April 2015
- Tuomey Healthcare System — $237 million judgment upheld in July 2015
- North Broward Hospital District — $69.5 million settlement in September 2015
These cases all involved publicly owned, nonprofit hospitals as defendants. The cases also involved alleged improper payments for referrals from physicians. Each case was initiated by physician whistleblowers.
