The American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Intellectual Property Law invites you to an IP Roundtable hosted by McDermott entitled, “Taming the Wild West of the Social Media Frontier with the Right of Publicity and Copyright Law.” This program will analyze the major intellectual property issues that arise with the evolution of social media technology.
The discussion will include the following topics:
- The right of publicity: common law protections, protections by various states and defenses
- Copyright law: how copyright law intersects with the right of publicity and how the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) can be used to remove problematic content
- Best practices and practical advice
