The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has conducted a Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for several years. In 2018, 14 of the top 20 companies in the Fortune 100 achieved a perfect score. Last year HRC released changes to the CEI for 2019 and, as a result of these revisions, if a company desires to achieve a perfect score, certain changes to employee benefit programs may need to occur. One such example of this is that the HRC now encourages companies to provide parity between same-sex and opposite sex domestic partners for most benefit programs, and this “parity” approach extends to fringe benefit programs and even distribution options from qualified retirement plans.
This webinar will discuss the changes to the CEI and how this might impact the benefits a company must provide to achieve a perfect score.
