McDermott Adds Real Estate Partner Daniel Martin to its Corporate & Transactional Practice in New York
NEW YORK (September 13, 2016) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced the arrival of Daniel Martin, an experienced real estate finance attorney, as a partner in the Firm’s Corporate & Transactional Practice in New York.
Mr. Martin has over a decade of experience advising on real estate investment and financing transactions. He has represented clients in large acquisitions and asset sales, loan originations, as well as restructurings and workouts involving distressed properties. He regularly counsels financial institutions as well as private equity funds, hedge funds, pension funds, and other institutional investors of real estate assets.
Mr. Martin’s recent engagements include representation of an investment fund in providing mortgage financing for the development of a premier New York City tourist destination with a construction budget in excess of $500 million. He also represented a private equity fund in the acquisition and financing of a northeast-based chain of privately owned hospitals, in a transaction valued at over $1 billion.
“Daniel has an impressive background in representing institutions and funds in a wide range of real estate acquisitions and financings,” said Keith Pattiz, head of McDermott’s Real Estate Practice. “He will increase the depth of our real estate practice, expand our capacity, and help us continue to grow our client base here in New York and internationally. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
“Daniel is a first-rate, sophisticated deal advisor,” said Ira Coleman, global head of McDermott’s Corporate & Transactional Practice. “Real estate is a critical segment of our corporate platform, and adding a talented partner with Daniel’s skill set and energy enhances the services we are able to offer our client base, particularly among institutional and private investors of real estate assets.”
“Our real estate practice is in high demand, and we are thrilled to have Daniel on board to help meet the growing needs of our clients in this core area,” said John T. Lutz, co-head of McDermott’s New York office. “We are looking forward to integrating Daniel into McDermott’s global platform and providing him with the support he needs to grow and cultivate his practice in the New York market and beyond.”
Mr. Martin received his JD from University of Michigan Law School, and his BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo. He is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), and the Urban Land Institute.
