Former Rep. Jim Moran Plans to Bring Appropriations Lobbying to McDermott
James Moran Jr. joins McDermott as a senior legislative adviser. As the only former member of Congress at the Firm, he positions McDermott to have closer ties with the House appropriations committee. « I have as many close relationships with Republicans as I do with Democrats, » Mr. Moran said concerning the bipartisan nature of his planned practice. « There’s a lot of mutual respect on committees with that. » Stephen Ryan, head of McDermott’s government strategies group, noted its strong 2014 revenue in congressional-investigations work and the creation of subsidiary McDermott+Consulting as key positives.
