Stephen Ryan said that the IRS hopes to get its Information Sharing and Assessment Center to combat tax fraud up and running by January 1, 2016, before the upcoming tax filing season, The purpose of the group is to create a data sharing center where states, the federal government, and industry groups will be under nondisclosure agreements, providing a necessary legal structure around the exchange of information, Mr. Ryan said. Such information sharing is crucial because some states are more vulnerable to security breaches than others, he added.
