McDermott Helps Sikh Army Captain Keep the Faith


Amandeep Sidhu was profiled for how his Sikh faith has placed him on the forefront of efforts to help Sikhs serve in the U.S. military without giving up their religiously-mandated turban and unshorn hair. Mr. Sidhu worked with the Sikh Coalition on his latest victory for a Sikh officer, and explained his commitment to help fellow American Sikhs pursue military careers by noting that defending justice and equality is a basic tenant of the Sikh faith. “There’s this long history and tradition of military service in the [Sikh] community,” Mr. Sidhu said.
