Tech Companies Still Eager for Patent Reform

Fabio Marino, speaking of major technology companies and their allies, said « the fervor is less vocal, but they are still pushing » for congressional passage of The Innovation Act patent reform bill. In patent litigation, Mr. Marino said he hasn’t seen much impact from the twin rulings on fee-shifting in Octane Fitness and Highmark, which handed district judges more discretion. “There have been a lot of people threatening sanctions, and that has some bite to it, but in terms of cases where sanctions have been awarded, they are few and far between,” he noted.
