Michael Weaver, McDermott’s partner-in-charge for LGBT diversity and inclusion, said that while organizations may say covering gender transition medical procedures is too costly, “It doesn’t cost that much to cover transgender folks for medical benefits, especially when you consider that you are securing that employee’s loyalty,” Noting that McDermott offers full transgender health coverage, Mr. Weaver added, “We have some really great transgender employees and we don’t want to lose them.”
