Daniel Martin said the upcoming maturity of many CMBS loans originated a decade or more ago « is creating a conundrum for a lot of investment funds that own the properties subject to these loans, » in large part due to difficulties in refinancing. Mr. Martin, who focuses on real estate investment and financing transactions, says that tighter regulations in the financial markets have made it more difficult and more expensive to refinance these loans.
