When the CCO Leaves, Do You Have a Succession Plan?


Michael Peregrine said “I don’t think it would be a good thing” for organizations to have a formal compliance officer succession plan, “because it is not in their best interest to have that position perceived as more important than other officers for whom there is no succession plan. That would be unfortunate and unwarranted.” Instead, Mr. Peregrine urged boards and senior managers to place the focus on exit interviews and hiring plans if key executives leave.
