Blaine Adams focuses his practice on corporate and transactional matters, particularly bankruptcy and financial restructuring matters.
Blaine’s experience includes representing creditors’ committees by litigating valuation disputes, drafting pleadings and negotiating global settlements. Additionally, Blaine represents equity sponsors and lenders as well as facilitating section 363 asset sales. Blaine has distinct restructuring expereince in the oil and gas, health care, retail and restaurant industries. Prior to joining McDermott, Blaine’s experience included representing creditors’ committees with a focus toward maximizing creditor recoveries.
During his time at William & Mary Law Shool, Blaine was invited to join the William & Mary Law Review. Blaine also served as the line editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology.

- Represented creditors’ committee in In re Emerge Energy Services LP by litigating valuation dispute*
- Represented general contractor by drafting summary judgment pleading in multibillion dollar litigation in Enterprise v. AFWUSA*
- Represented creditors’ committee in In re Patriot National, Inc. by drafting pleadings on debtors’ insurance policies and negotiating global settlement, leading to successful emergence from chapter 11*
- Represented debtor-solar company Suniva, Inc. by protecting estate assets and assisting successful Section 201 petition before the United States International Trade Commission*
- Represented creditors’ committee in In re Cent. Grocers, Inc. by facilitating multiple section 363 asset sales*
- Represent creditors’ committee in In re Color Spot Holdings, Inc. by objecting to usage of cash collateral*
- Negotiated, reviewed, and commented on restructuring support agreement in In re Energy XXI while representing ad hoc committee of senior secured second lien notes*
- Represented equity sponsors in In re Samson Res. Corp. by drafting/filing Rule 2019 statements and proofs of claim*
- Represented equity sponsors in In re Chassix Holdings, Inc. by engaging in extensive research on legal allowability of third party releases*
- Represented lenders in In re Abengoa Bioenergy US Holding, LLC by facilitating section 363 asset sales*
