Chelsea M. Rutherford focuses her practice on corporate, transactional and regulatory matters affecting a wide range of clients in the healthcare and life sciences industries.
While in law school, Chelsea served as the editor in chief of the American Journal of Law and Medicine and as a teaching assistant for public health law. Additionally, she was named an Edward F. Hennessey Distinguished Scholar and won the Dean’s award in healthcare fraud and abuse. Chelsea also has served as a law clerk for a qui tam boutique litigation firm and completed a year-long internship with the in-house counsel of a major hospital system. Before pursuing her master’s degree, Chelsea worked in research and clinical genetics laboratories and co-authored peer-reviewed research in the field.
Results
- Part of a team that provided critical regulatory counsel to clients in their successful acquisitions of health-based practices, including a large medical device manufacturer/distributor, a home care services provider, multiple ambulatory surgical centers and an anesthesiology practice
- Assisted a nonprofit organization with the structure and negotiation of targeted research services agreements
- Developed innovative client tools, including health-specific terms and conditions, for a client’s website and regulatory training documents for in-house counsel
