Stephen J. Smith represents clients in high-stakes patent litigation before the federal district courts, Federal Circuit and International Trade Commission. His practice spans a range of technologies, including consumer electronics, pharmaceuticals, software, mechanical devices, semiconductors, user interface, telecommunications, medical devices and diagnostics, and chemistry. In addition, Stephen provides clients with patent and intellectual property portfolio counseling and management.
Stephen has experience in all phases of litigation, including first-chair appellate experience. He has experience in claim construction, Hatch-Waxman litigation and inter partes review proceedings.
Stephen obtained his juris doctor from Georgetown Law, where he served as an administrative editor and staff editor for The Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame.
