Joel Chefitz called it “ironic” that the Justice Department would investigate US airlines for collusion, given that the same regulators who approved recent airline mergers “would now come out and cry foul.” Mr. Chefitz suggested that the government would “need evidence of a hard-core agreement” between the airlines to restrict competition, and added, “I’d be shocked if [the airlines] got together in a smoke-filled room and agreed to cut capacity.” Read the full article
