Overview
Joshua (Josh) T. Buchman focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations and complex commercial litigation. He represents corporate clients in the healthcare, manufacturing and defense contracting industries, in civil litigation and in corporate internal investigations. Josh has deep knowledge of False Claims Act litigation, and obtained a complete victory for a defense contractor client in a case involving $600 million in single damages exposure. He also represents individuals involved in government investigations.
In addition to his litigation practice, Josh counsels clients in compliance-related matters, focusing on the healthcare industry.
Josh previously served for nine years as an assistant US attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, where he was deputy chief of the General Crimes Division. As a federal prosecutor, he concentrated in complex commercial crimes, including financial institution fraud, and securities and investor fraud. Josh tried numerous federal jury trials involving racketeering, narcotics trafficking, bankruptcy fraud, mail and wire fraud, and bank fraud. He also has supervised, briefed and argued numerous cases before the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. In addition, Josh served as the coordinator of environmental crimes prosecutions for the US Attorney’s Office.
