Jilali Maazouz addressed the legal impact on multinational companies of language in France, given that French law requires every employer on French territory, including multinationals, to conclude employment contracts in French and to translate into French the instructions for products and equipment. Mr. Maazouz called the relationship between language and law “extremely intimate,” and said the language requirement is “a symbol of awareness of the need to save, or at least support, the French language.” Read the full article.
