Proposed Deferred Compensation Plan Rules May Aid Exempt Hospitals

Mary Samsa told an American Health Lawyers Association conference that proposed IRS regulations on deferred executive compensation “ended up being significantly more favorable than we as professionals were anticipating seeing.” Ms. Samsa explained that “there are potentially a lot of opportunities” for organizations with 457(f) arrangements, but added that some executives without deferred compensation “are unlikely to want to change.”
