Overview
Michael J. Tang focuses his practice on providing tax advice to private clients and family offices. He has experience in domestic and international tax planning, corporate financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other general corporate and tax representation.
Prior to joining McDermott, Michael served as an in-house tax counsel for a Fortune 200 renewable energy company, where he advised on the federal income tax consequences of joint ventures and tax equity financings involving private equity funds and institutional investors. In addition, Michael worked previously as an international tax associate for a Big Four accounting firm, where he consulted on a wide range of inbound and outbound international tax issues for multinational corporations, real estate investment trusts and foreign individuals.
During law school, Michael served as a Staff Editor for the Nexus Journal of Law and Public Policy and was a member of the Moot Court Competition Board, winning best brief and placing first overall in the Thomas Tang National Moot Court Competition. He also served as a Student Ambassador and an Academic Fellow for Corporate and Contract Law.
