Overview
Matt Perreault counsels accountable care organizations (ACOs), hospitals and health systems, integrated delivery networks and physician practices on a wide range of provider acquisitions, affiliations and arrangements, and value-based reimbursement and other managed care agreements. Matt regularly advises healthcare clients on complex regulatory and fraud and abuse matters, including the physician self-referral law (Stark Law) and the Anti-Kickback Statute, as well as general healthcare law and compliance matters.
Prior to joining McDermott, Matt was deputy general counsel for a large private health system where he served as the lead lawyer for its ACO, multi-specialty physician practice and hospital physician contracting. He also held positions of increasing responsibility at a national vertically integrated renal care company.
Results
- Drafted multi-state participating provider and shared savings agreements for a leading ACO
- Advised a large private health system on its physician practice acquisitions, employment agreements, and other clinical and administrative affiliations in connection with strategic market expansions
- Developed a physician employment agreement template for the affiliated physician practices of a prominent specialty hospital system
- Represented a large private health system in its successful formation and operation of a Next Generation ACO, a Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO and a Medicaid ACO
- Assisted clients in responding to government investigations and conducting internal investigations into regulatory compliance matters
- Advised an ACO regarding participation in the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced Model (BPCI Advanced), including development of a participating provider agreement template
- Oversaw physician contracting for 18 hospitals and a national multi-specialty physician practice*
