Laurence Rogers focuses his practice on all aspects of finance, including real estate financing, leveraged financing, acquisition financing and Islamic financing. He is highly experienced in investment and development transactions as well as syndicated and bilateral deals. He has acted for a range of borrowers and lenders, both senior, mezzanine and equity. Laurence handles all real estate finance aspects of origination and refinancing as well as the real estate finance aspects of restructuring. He advises on all major property asset classes and across a number of sectors including healthcare, hotel and leisure, commercial, retail and student accommodation. Laurence handles both UK transactions and cross-border deals in Europe, Africa and the United States and he is particularly active on financing for private equity real estate transactions and acting for alternative lenders.

Acted for Sequoia in relation to the real estate aspects of a mezzanine financing deal, in respect of the acquisition of 23 UK-based care homes. This included real estate advice in relation to a sale and leaseback of the portfolio to a long-term income fund, as part of the overall funding for the acquisition. Advised HIG Capital on their mezzanine financing of the construction of two properties in Germany
Acted for a consortium of South Korean institutional investors on the financing of their purchase of a long leasehold interest in Tesco’s distribution centre at Avonmouth for GBP 71.4 million from NFU Mutual Insurance Society. Also acted upon the financing of their acquisition of a Jersey Property Unit Trust owning the freehold interest in Accolade Park, Bristol for £62 million for South Korean institutions*
