Romilly Holland focuses her practice on international arbitration and has a wide range of experience in arbitrations before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), as well as before ad hoc tribunals. She has particular experience in the telecommunications sector and in disputes arising out of investments in Africa. In addition to acting as counsel, Romilly has regularly been appointed as secretary to the arbitral tribunal in international commercial arbitration proceedings.


  • Advised a telecommunication investor in UNCITRAL proceedings against a Middle Eastern State in relation to a dispute arising in connection with the State’s discriminatory treatment and a breach of tax obligations*
  • Advised Middle Eastern investors in connection with a telecommunications dispute against an Asian State*
  • Advised a Middle Eastern bank in LCIA proceedings against an Eastern European bank in relation to a sale and purchase agreement dispute arising out of the global financial crisis*
  • Advised Israeli investors in relation to a dispute under an investment treaty regarding the termination of a business concession agreement by an Eastern European State*
  • Advised a Russian engineering company in ICC proceedings against a multinational energy company in relation to a dispute arising out of a gas turbine purchase agreement*
  • Advised a construction and facilities management company on its post-liquidation debt recovery strategy*
  • Advised a major oil and gas company on its acquisition of oil blocks off-shore of a West African State*
  • Advised a Japanese conglomerate on foreign investment protections in Iran*
